When to choose a cardboard block pallet?
Published on
The Revopal cardboard block pallet measures 1000 or 1200 × 1200 mm and is made of recycled cardboard. You choose this size when your load needs more surface than the euro pallet size offers, and when you want to ship without a pallet exchange system or ISPM 15 treatment for export. This article explains when the block pallet is the right choice, and when a different size fits better.
What is a cardboard block pallet?
The cardboard block pallet from Revopal is available in 1000 × 1200 mm and 1200 × 1200 mm. In Europe, the block size is one of the most widely used pallets. With the recycled cardboard version you get that size without wood, and therefore without a pallet exchange system or ISPM 15 treatment.
Revopal does not set the load capacity as standard, but per request. The pallet is available in different strengths and specifications; our advisers calculate with you based on your load and your transport.
Because of the recycled cardboard, the block pallet is lighter than a wooden pallet and has no splinters or nails. Your employee who picks up or moves pallets all day notices that.
When is a block pallet the right choice?
The block pallet fits when your load needs more surface than the euro pallet size of 800 × 1200 mm offers. At 1000 or 1200 × 1200 mm, larger products and stacked loads rest on the pallet completely.
The pallet exchange system plays a role too. The block pallet needs no pallet exchange system, and therefore none of the administration that comes with it: the pallet travels with the shipment and you do not need to settle pallets with your customers at the end of the year.
The pallet is also widely usable, for storing, displaying and transporting products.
- Your load needs more surface than the euro pallet size of 800 × 1200 mm
- The pallet travels with the shipment and does not need to return through a pallet exchange system
- You export and want to ship without ISPM 15 treatment
- You want one pallet for storing, displaying and transporting
Where does the block pallet come from?
Revopal has produced the pallets in the Netherlands since 2019. Production takes place in a socially responsible way and offers people who face barriers to employment an opportunity.
The material is recycled cardboard. When the pallet is no longer used, it returns to the recycling process and the material is usable again for new cardboard or paper. Read how that cycle works on the page about the circular economy.
And for export?
The cardboard block pallet is free from ISPM 15 (HT) treatment and can therefore be used worldwide.
Because no pallet exchange system is involved, the pallet stays with the recipient. They can pass it on to the recycling process, so the material is usable again for new products.

When should you choose a different size?
If your load is smaller or lighter, the cardboard euro pallet (800 × 1200 mm) or the cardboard mini pallet (600 × 800 mm) fits better. Those match a smaller shipment better and are light enough to move by hand.
If your product does not fit a standard size, Revopal makes a custom pallet, up to 3150 × 1200 mm. Products that stick out over the edge are more likely to be damaged; a pallet that fits exactly prevents that and uses the space in the trailer optimally.
Those pallets are made of recycled cardboard too; their load capacity is also set per request.
