When to choose a cardboard euro pallet?
Published on
A Revopal cardboard euro pallet measures 800 × 1200 mm — the euro pallet size most used in Europe — and consists of a top sheet of recycled cardboard with pallet feet underneath. You choose it when your load fills the full euro pallet size and you want to ship without a pallet exchange system or ISPM 15 treatment for export. This article explains when the euro pallet is the right choice, and when a different size fits better.
What is a cardboard euro pallet?
The Revopallet – cardboard euro pallet measures 800 × 1200 mm and is made up of a recycled cardboard top sheet and cardboard pallet feet. You can pick it up on four sides.
Revopal does not set the load capacity as standard, but per request. The pallet is available in different strengths and specifications; our advisers calculate with you based on your load and your transport.
When is the euro pallet the right choice?
Within Europe, the euro pallet size is one of the most used pallet sizes. If your load fits a standard pallet position — such as a slot in racking or a fixed place in a trailer — the euro pallet aligns with it best and you use the space optimally.
The pallet is also widely applicable: for storing, displaying and transporting products.
Without a pallet exchange system and without settlement
The cardboard euro pallet needs no pallet exchange system, nor the administration that comes with it: you do not have to settle pallets with your customers at the end of the year. Because the pallet is fully recyclable, it returns to the recycling process after use.
That makes it a sustainable alternative for companies that want to ship responsibly on a one-off basis.
What do your employees notice?
The pallet is light in weight, unlike a wooden pallet, and has no splinters or nails. Anyone who picks up or moves pallets all day notices this immediately.
And for export?
The cardboard euro pallet needs no ISPM 15 treatment for export and can therefore be used worldwide. No pallet exchange system is involved, so the pallet stays with the recipient. They can pass it on to the recycling process, so the material is usable again for new products. Read more about how that works on the page about the circular economy.
When should you choose a different size?
If your product fills the euro pallet size only partly, choose the cardboard mini pallet of 600 × 800 mm: no empty space, and light enough to move by hand.
If your load is wider or square in shape, the cardboard block pallet of 1000 or 1200 × 1200 mm fits better. If your product extends beyond the euro pallet size, a custom pallet, up to 3150 × 1200 mm, fits exactly; that prevents damage and lets you use the space in the trailer optimally. Those pallets are light and made of recycled cardboard too; their load capacity is also set per request.
